Class participation self-evaluation
I just tripped over this self-evaluation for students that I think offers some interesting ideas about class participation and engagement. Does it make sense to you?
If your score is lower than 4, the author believes that perhaps you need to re-think whether you're taking full advantage of the learning opportunities available in your courses.

- Did I thoughtfully respond at least once to a question during class this week?
(Yes-2 points, Somewhat-1 point, No-0 points) - Did I provide at least two meaningful and constructive responses to other students' comments either in class or online?
(Yes-2 points, Somewhat-1 point, No-0 points) - Did I read/pay attention to face to face or online discussions/lectures?
(Yes-2 points, Somewhat-1 point, No-0 points)

I guess you could pose the question:
Can I make sense of the new information attained in the lecture/reading and think of a potential theoretical or practical usage for it?
If you got it, you prolly benefitted from the lecture/material. If you didn't, you didn't.
The points system there highlights some potential 'idicators' for this - but I think we agree saying something in class and knowing what you are talking about are two different things. Ditto for paying attention vs. comprehending.
